Stars Across The Night Time

Single 03/10/25

LISTEN NOW

Written and recorded in my home studio over the space of a few days. I wanted to experiment with keeping everything quite dry in the production of this song. I avoided adding any reverb to the vocals and kept the arrangement quite minimal. What’s on the track is pretty much how everything sounded at the time of recording, with some basic EQ, as I didn’t want to add much in the way of plugins. In terms of the arrangement, the basic track was built from the ukulele providing rhythm, with bass, drums and guitar added later. I wanted to keep it quite simple and therefore didn’t write any string parts or layer any vocal harmonies.

I decided to lean into having it sound as weird as possible in a way that satisfied my own taste. Over time with writing and recording, I’ve moved away from trying to guess what listeners might like. I write and record my songs to satisfy my own curiosity and creativity. I’ve found when I do this and I create something that I personally enjoy, that’s when people with similar leanings can resonate more with the work.
